#301   OF SC

Congress passed legislation authorizing construction of a WALL OF REMEMBRANCE to be added to the Korean War Memorial in Washington, DC. With the stipulation that it be built with private funds and no government (taxpayer) monies can be used.

The wall will have the names of all 37,000 American servicemen and women Killed in action (KIA), held as (POW), and those still listed as (MIA).

The cost of the  WALL OF REMEMBRANCE is estimated to cost  approximately $26, million dollars. The Government of Korea (ROK) has committed to funding the CONSTRUCTION of the WALL with all  necessary engraving.

There are numerous additions needed to enhance the WOR and which will also Rehabilitize the 25 year old Korean War Memorial. These additions were planned by the National Park Service, but are now covered by the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation.

All the names to be engraved on the WOR have been decided and qualified by the Secretary of defense.
